Discover the enchanting Arcadia Boutique Resort, a hidden gem nestled in breathtaking Moganshan – a quick weekend getaway from Shanghai but worlds away from the city bustle. Arcadia, also known as Shangpo, had its humble beginnings when Ernest Guan stumbled upon a secluded and pristine location nestled deep within Moganshan in 2014. Inspired by the mythological paradise of Arcadia in ancient Greece, he envisioned creating a tranquil retreat that would mirror the idyllic setting. It wasn’t until 2015 that Ernest found the perfect farmhouse and embarked on a journey of renovation, transforming it into the enchanting destination it is today.

A respite from the frenzy of everyday life

On a warm August day in 2016, Arcadia, with its Mediterranean-style villa, opened its doors to guests seeking a boutique homestay experience. The villa, carefully designed with a fusion of vintage and contemporary elements, exudes a sense of sophistication and warmth.

In (add year) Steven Weathers, a foreigner from the US with 20 years experience in China as a TV host and actor, contributed his unique vision and expertise to the hotel. Initially playing a role as a consultant, Steven later became an investor and stakeholder in Arcadia. With his discerning eye for detail and unwavering commitment, he has played a pivotal role in transforming this hidden gem into a modern luxury retreat in Moganshan for international and local guests alike.

A World Away, Just a Stone's Throw from Shanghai

Located in the scenic mountains of Muzhuwu, Shangpo derives its name from the uphill road that leads to the villa, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The unobstructed vistas, free from power lines and the noise of hectic city life, provide a rare and serene mountain retreat amidst the abundance of homestays in the area.
